Tell me who your friends are and I’ll tell you who you are. Part II.

Recently, we've begun exposing allies and enablers of Boro Park Shomrim. Buff Baruch Booky Kaluszyner's close relationship to Shomrim has allegedly enabled Shomrim to commit dozens of alleged crimes. Supporters of Shomrim must cease their support or face accountability as well.

In Part I we reported on Booky's lights and sirens business, and how he has offered his services to Boro Park Shomrim. In addition to installing illegal lights and sirens into many members' cars, he also installed lights and sirens into official Shomrim vehicles. He also installed mobile walkie talkies into their vehicles.

Furthermore, Booky has worked closely with Shomrim on the scenes of their calls, including on searches for missing children. Shomrim has requested his help despite serious allegations of sexual misconduct on his part toward teenagers. (An in-depth report is forthcoming in a future post in our series on Shomrim's enablers.)

Prior to Boro Park Shomrim acquiring their own command post, Boro Park Shomrim borrowed the FSSP Flatbush Shomrim mobile command post during large operations including searches for missing people. During searches conducted by Boro Park Shomrim, Booky has been seen inside the command post. Reportedly, FSSP Coordinator Chaim Deutsch Unit-01 dislikes Booky, but Booky was none-the-less invited into the command post by disgraced Shomrim search coordinator Avigdor Brief Unit-63. Booky has also been seen wearing a Lakewood Shomrim jacket inside the command post.

We've previous reported that Booky helped Shomrim acquire their illegal truck. He also helped them acquire illegal New Jersey dealer plates from Tzvi EDP Shapiro. Booky helped Shomrim coordinator Mark Motti Katz Unit-18 to acquire a Shomrim ATV which he fully equipped with emergency lights. Katz has been seen illegally driving this ATV throughout Boro Park.

Booky has also been instrumental in acquiring the illegal Shomrim scooters with coordinator Jacob Yanky Daskal Unit-05, and has worked on them.

Why does BSSP Boro Park Shomrim maintain a relationship with an alleged creep like Booky Kaluszyner?

Tell me who your friends are and I’ll tell you who you are. Part I.

We take a brief hiatus from exposing direct Shomrim corruption, and instead turn to exposing their enablers, allies, and supporters. These include the NYPD’s 66th Precinct’s CO Michael Deddo, FSSP Coordinator Chaim Deutsch, buff Baruch Booky Kaluszyner, and EMVA’s Tzvi EDP Shapiro, among others.

We begin with Baruch “Booky” Kaluszyner. Booky grew up in the Kensington section of Brooklyn. At an early age it became apparent that he wasn’t too studious, and as he allegedly failed in school, he turned elsewhere for stimulation. He would later develop an interest in emergency services, and developed an affinity for Boro Park Shomrim. Booky quickly developed a reputation as a “Shomrim buff” and would follow them to calls, monitor their radio system with a police scanner, and eventually, after several years, he developed a friendship with several Shomrim members.

As he grew older he assembled with his friends a drop-in center for teens. This hangout became known as “The Shop.” Booky and his friends would gather there to play billiards, smoke, drink, chat and discuss Boro Park Shomrim.

organization by leading community activists and rabbis for alleged
inappropriate behavior with children. Details to come.

Kaluszyner was always handy, and began to exploit his talents into earning a living. He ventured into the “lights and sirens” business, and soon enough became the “go-to” guy for the installation of emergency lights and sirens into private vehicles. Despite his outrageous prices and poor customer service, he provided a service that many buffs and Shomrim members took advantage of.

His first lights and sirens installation business began illegally, right on the curb in front of his Avenue F home. Booky would install lights and sirens into buffs’ private vehicles. Eventually, Shomrim members would turn to him for installation as well.

His would later operate out of a garage on East 3rd Street. At this address he named his business Booky's L&S. Allegedly, he did not incorporate, nor did he properly file his taxes.

As each location fell through for various reasons, Booky simply found a new one. This included a shop on New Utrecht Avenue and on McDonald Avenue. He then operated in front of his 12th Avenue home. Booky presently operates out of 1317 36th Street, in a garage he calls Fleet Services. His alleged shoddy work has reduced his business. However, those desperate enough for his services continue to turn to him.

As a buff, he constantly seeks out "action." While buffing shomrim calls, several sources have alleged that Booky would mercilessly tie a rope from his car (with official license plates) to innocent and vulnerable homeless people's carts, and would slowly drag the cart along as the homeless people ran after it. As they grew more agitated, Booky is alleged to speed up his car and laugh gaily as his tormented victims shouted helplessly. Booky's heartless pranks have left a deep scar on several homeless people who have been interviewed by this blog.

We've previously reported on how disgraced Shomrim member Avigdor Brief Unit-63 allegedly begged his colleague Abraham Motty MNS Brauner Unit-58 to stand down once a suspect they pursued pulled a gun on them. However, Brauner refused, and this allegedly resulted in a wild shooting taking place in the heart of Boro Park. Brief then complained to the Shomrim coordinators about Brauner’s actions. The coordinators allegedly sided with Brauner.

Sources inside Boro Park Shomrim tell this blog that Motty MNS Brauner Unit-58 is Shomrim’s scene supervisor, and is in charge of directing members at the scene of every call. Even when he isn't on scene, he often does this over the radio.

Sources inside Shomrim tell us that they’re concerned about Brauner’s often hideous judgment, and second guess his orders.

Brauner frequently dispatches for Shomrim, and manages Barnett Cleaners. The cleaners is owned by Shomrim Coordinator Jacob Yanky Daskal Unit-05, and Unit-58's brother, Shomrim member Nussi Brauner Unit-54. We’ve previously reported about their illegal Shomrim/delivery scooters.

If Shomrim’s own members do not have faith in their leaders, why should the community trust them? Why does the 66th Precinct’s CO Michael Deddo trust them?

Shomrim's Illegal Scooters

We've previously reported on Shomrim operating an illegal truck during Hurricane Sandy. That truck is currently parked in a lot on 42nd Street, between Fort Hamilton Parkway and New Utrecht Avenue, right behind the White Castle parking lot.

Anyways, it turns out the NYPD's 66th precinct not only turns a blind eye to the Shomrim truck, but they also turn a blind eye to a slew of Shomrim scooters that operate without any license plates, registration, or insurance. Two of these scooters are parked in the street in front of Coordinator Jacob Yanky Daskal's house on 46th Street. A brief Google Maps search of his home address reveals an image of three such scooters parked in front of his house. Click here to see the photo. Two scooters remain there today.

Daskal uses these uninsured, unregistered, and unplated vehicles to respond to Shomrim calls, as well as transport the food he allegedly schnors from Luzees.

Another two of these illegal scooters are stationed in front of Barnett Cleaners on 54th Street and New Utrecht Avenue. Coordinator Jacob Yanky Daskal Unit-05 owns the cleaners with Nussi Brauner Unit-54. Nussi's brother, Motty MNS Brauner Unit-58, manages the cleaners. These illegal scooters are used to deliver dry cleaned items to customers.

A fifth scooter is parked by Shomrim member Meir Wax Unit-43's house. Click here to view a google maps photo of it.

A sixth scooter is driven by Jacob Daskal's son-in-law. This son-in-law previously drove a car with Shomrim markings - despite not being a Shomrim member. He gave up the car because he was embarrassed to drive a marked Shomrim vehicle. Therefore, he insisted that his scooter be bare of Shomrim markings.

These scooters pose a serious danger to the community, because they are unaccountable due to their lack of license plates, and are unable to recompense victims due to a lack of insurance.

It is an absolute outrage that the 66th precinct fails to ticket and tow these vehicles  Under NYC law, such vehicles are to be tagged and towed by the DSNY and/or the NYPD.

We call on Shomrim to properly register, insure, and plate all of their vehicles -- including their truck and fleet of scooters.

Why can't Shomrim do anything right?

Shomrim allegedly Assaults Apprehended Suspect

In April of 2010, right in front of Boro Park's Gravesend "18th Avenue" Park, Shomrim caught an individual alleged to have stolen tires off of a parked vehicle. The suspect surrendered and prostrated facedown on the street. Despite complying, Boro Park Shomrim member Solomon "Shloime" Lenorowitz Unit-77 allegedly then began to stomp on him, while Motty "MNS" Brauner Unit-58 allegedly kicked him. Allegedly, the other members just stood by and watched.

Boro Park Shomrim Coordinator Sam Follman Unit-48's ILLEGAL Car Service

Today we've reached our 48,000th hit. We therefore dedicate this post in honor of Boro Park Shomrim Coordinator Unit-48, Sam Follman. We thank our dear readers for enabling us to become a force for good in this community.

For nearly two decades, Shomrim coordinator Sam Follman has allegedly been operating an illegal and unlicensed car service called Get-A-Car. This car service operates out of a small office on 13th Avenue and 52nd Street in Boro Park, Brooklyn, NY. His landlord is Shomrim member Abraham Mendel Landau, owner of Landau's Health Tree, Unit-53.This office allegedly doubles as a Shomrim dispatch base, and often shares a dispatcher with Shomrim.

In the early nineties, Sam Follman joined Get-A-Car car service as a driver. The car service was owned by three men: Yanky R. (who is brothers with a former Shomrim coordinator), Sruly I., and Shaul Z. Both Sruly and Shaul are Stoliner chassidim. Shaul was an active Shomrim volunteer.

Allegedly, Follman quickly convinced the men to allow him to purchase a 10% share in the business. Although at first he allegedly struggled to pay his share, he eventually did, and then asked to purchase 50% of the business. Before he completed paying of the 50%, he allegedly persuaded them to sell him 75% of the business, and allegedly, he eventually kicked out his former partners and took over the business. He allegedly never fully paid the former partners their share. Shaul was so disturbed by this alleged theft of his business by his own Shomrim coordinator - and the alleged subsequent support the coordinator received from his colleagues - that he quit Shomrim in disgust.

Car services must be registered by the TLC (Taxi and Limousine Commission) in order to provide safeguards for both the drivers and the consumers. These safeguards have often saved the lives of both driver and consumer.

Sources tell us that several schools in the Boro Park area contract with Get-A-Car to transport young children. Equally disturbing, sources tell us that Women's League Community Residences, Inc. - a non-profit organization serving people with developmental disabilities - has contracted with Get-A-Car to transport their consumers.

Get-A-Car advertises their endorsement by Boro Park Shormim. Behind the scenes, sources tell us that an elected official allegedly labored tirelessly to have the TLC turn a blind eye to the Shomrim coordinator's allegedly illegal car service. When other Orthodox car services opened in the community, Follman and Shomrim were allegedly quick to have them shut down. In fact, an investigator at the TLC tell us that it was allegedly Follman himself who filed several reports against E-Z Car Service, their chief competitor.

Because his business is unlicensed and unaccountable, Follman is reputed to abuse his own drivers and often withholds their wages from the voucher clients. These are the institutitons that pay Follman directly for the car service fees, and the drivers do not receive cash - as they do with usual fares - and rather, receive a voucher. The drivers are then supposed to redeem the voucher for their earned wages by Follman. Several drivers have told us that Follman has allegedly steadfastly refused to pay them and taunted them that they can report him - and thereby incriminate themselves - to the TLC.

Despite Get-A-Car posing a danger to the community for nearly two decades, community leaders are afraid to shut him down because of Follman's affiliation with Shomrim. This danger must end. Get-A-Car must get properly licensed or shut down.

WHY DOES THE TLC CONTINUE TO ALLOW FOLLMAN TO OPERATE?

Did Shomrim Shoot a RESTRAINED suspect?

On the evening of September 3rd, 2010, four Boro Park Shomrim members were shot. They were widely hailed as heroes, and received personal attention from the NYPD brass.

Wannabee hero Shomrim members receive awards for their
involvement in a reckless shooting incident.
With  them are NYC Councilmembers Brad Lander and David G. Greenfield.

However, not everything happened as it's been reported. In this inside account told to us by a Boro Park Shomrim member who was one of the first members on the scene, we reveal what is alleged to have precisely transpired on that hectic night.

For days leading up to the evening of the shooting, Shomrim was aware of a gentile suspect that was alleged to have exposed himself to children on the street. (Had this been a Hassidic suspect, Shomrim would have probably paid no mind.) On the evening of the shooting, Shomrim member Motty "MNS" Brauner Unit-58 responded to a call from a concerned parent that a man was exposing himself to children. Brauner realized that this was the same suspect that Shomrim was aware of, and gave chase. What resulted was allegedly a car chase through densely residential Boro Park, which ended when the suspect hit a traffic jam on 46th Street, between 9th and 10th Avenues. As soon as the suspect's car was stopped, Brauner asked the other Shomrim members to join him in approaching the suspect's vehicle by foot.

At this time the only proper response was to dial 911 and allow the NYPD to approach the vehicle. Instead, in a reckless and frantic manner, the Shomrim members approached the vehicle.

It was then that the suspect allegedly opened his window and barked at Shomrim to back off. When they refused, he allegedly exited his vehicle, and flashed a firearm. Allegedly, disgraced Shomrim member Avigdor Brief Unit-63 - in a rare moment of clarity - immediately ran for cover while yelling at his colleagues to back off as well. Witnesses tell us they heard that Brief was shouting "MOTTY, YOU'RE NOT GONNA MAKE IT. JUMP BACK. YOU'RE NOT GONNA MAKE IT!" Some were ready to retreat, but Motty Brauner Unit-58 was adamant to tackle the suspect. As he tackled him, he was shot. As three other members joined Brauner in tackling the suspect, they were shot as well. In the scuffle, the gun allegedly slipped along the asphalt and Brief then allegedly picked up the firearm and shot the suspect himself. Sources also tell us that Brief was furious with Brauner, and would later tell the coordinators that Brauner was at fault for bringing this onto himself.

Click here to see Brief speaking of the incident with a bloody shirt.

When the police arrived, Shomrim allegedly reported that the suspect shot himself. A source at Lutheran Medical Center tells this blog that the shooter's gunshot wound in his left forearm did not appear consistent with a self-inflicted wound, although this is non-conclusive.

and member Moses Reichberg Unit-23, marching towards Lutheran Medical Center

Shomrim later exploited the incident in a failed fundraising campaign touting how Shomrim took bullets for the community, and in exchange asked the community to fund them. We're proud of the Boro Park Community for not responding to their pathetic fundraising appeal.

In reality, these Shomrim vigilantes put the entire community at risk while engaging in a car chase that they are untrained for, and allowing a shooting to take place mere feet from where children were playing. The bottom line is this: Shomrim is a patrol and not law enforcement. They may report crimes to the police, but cannot take the law into their own hand.

It's a miracle that these wannabe heroes' recklessness didn't result in the tragic death of innocent bystanders or their own members.

Did Boro Park Shomrim MURDER Gideon Busch?

On August 30th, 1999, officers from the NYPD's 66th precinct gunned down Gary "Gideon" Busch outside his basement apartment allegedly at 1619 46th Street in Brooklyn, NY. Busch was alleged to have been waving a hammer and the 66th precinct officers took that as a threat. They then pummeled him with twelve bullets, ultimately killing him.

Assemblyman Dov Hikind and former Councilman Simcha Felder pose with Boro Park Shomrim leadership.
The background story will outrage you.

Busch, a Ba'al T'shuva (or newly observant orthodox Jew), allegedly suffered from a history of mental illness. On the evening of the shooting, Busch was allegedly hosting a friend - Percy Freeman, a homeless African-American man - when BSSP Boro Park Shomrim allegedly knocked on his door. A neighborhood Shomrim member was allegedly disturbed that Busch was inviting "schvartzes," (a Yiddish pejorative for African-Americans) into the community, and allegedly requested backup in order to confront Busch.

When Busch opened the door wearing Tefillin (phylacteries), Boro Park Shomrim members allegedly told him to throw Freeman out and allegedly ordered him to cease inviting African-Americans over. When Busched refused to speak with them because he was allegedly in the midst of prayer, Boro Park Shomrim allegedly immediately called the 66th precinct, allegedly stating that they were involved in an altercation with a violent emotionally disturbed person who was threatening to kill them with visible weapons.

The arriving officers were then allegedly hyped up and ready to defend their lives. Busch, however, allegedly wasn't threatening them. According to some reports, Boro Park Shomrim allegedly hyped up the police on the scene. Officers then allegedly sprayed the allegedly non-violent Busch with pepper spray, setting him into a frenzy. It was then that the 66th precinct allegedly shot Busch twelve times. He was then allegedly left to die on the floor as the 66th precinct allegedly consulted with Boro Park Shomrim instead of aiding the dying Busch.

In the aftermath of the shooting, Assemblyman Dov Hikind and Simcha Felder protested against the 66th precinct's handling of the shooting. Why then, we ask, do Hikind and Felder maintain a close relationship with Boro Park Shomrim, who is allegedly partially responsible for Busch's death?

Full details on the Gideon Busch shooting can be read here.

It's easy to fault the officers for killing Busch. However, in their defense, they were allegedly responding to a hyped up call from Boro Park Shomrim. We believe that had Shomrim requested help appropriately, the 66th precinct would have had no reason to kill Busch.

IS GIEDON BUSCH'S BLOOD ON BORO PARK SHOMRIM'S HANDS?

The inside story behind the ILLEGAL BSSP Boro Park Shomrim Truck!

We recently exposed that the NYPD's 66th Precinct allowed BSSP Boro Park Shomrim to operate an uninsured, improperly plated, and unregistered truck within the confines of the 66th precinct. Today we present the complete insider story regarding the truck. We thank all the contributors that have made this report possible. We're particularly grateful to two brave BSSP Boro Park Shomrim members that have provided us with a wealth of information, without whom this post wouldn't have been possible.

One day, allegedly, Brooklyn buff Booky Kaluszyner picked up an old freezer truck at auction with the intention of flipping it for a profit and was looking for a buyer. After allegedly being turned down by a few prospective buyers, he piqued the interest of several Shomrim members. This group of members allegedly led by Coordinator Jacob "Yanky" Daskal agreed to pool together the cost of acquiring the truck and committed to buying it. Allegedly, Shomrim members Motty Perl Unit-69 and Meir Wax Unit-43 laid out all of the money with the promise that the rest of the members will reimburse them their fair share.

Originally, BSSP Boro Park Shomrim Coordinator Simcha Bernath allegedly objected to purchasing the truck because he felt that this old freezer truck would shame Shomrim. Once it was purchased, Bernath allegedly refused to approve outfitting the truck with Shomrim decals. Daskal allegedly advocated for the truck and eventually persuaded Bernath to approve it. After a bit of haggling between Coordinators Jacob Daskal and Simcha Bernath, the truck was outfitted with Shomrim's decals and put out on the road.

For the initial while that the truck was on the road, its insurance and maintenance was allegedly paid by the same two members who laid out the costs of buying the truck: Motty Perl Unit-69 and Meir Wax Unit-43. However, allegedly, none of the other Shomrim members who committed to chipping in followed through. Allegedly, Perl and Wax were left footing the entire bill.

Eventually, allegedly, Perl and Wax decided that they'll have to take the truck off the road, as the insurance was too expensive, and their truck amassed a slew of parking tickets.

Fast forward a bit, and the weather forecasters were predicting a super storm in NYC. Shomrim felt that they must get "their" truck back to show off during the hurricane. With such short notice and the understanding that the NYPD's 66th Precinct and it's CO, Michael Deddo, would turn a blind eye to any of their violations, they put the truck out on the street without any license plates, registration, or insurance. However, they figured that they ought to have some sort of plate so as to not stand out too much, and installed New Jersey Used Car Dealer Plates (#6603 DMB) (seen on this youtube videoon the rear of their truck.

Sources tell us that the plates were provided by Tzvi Shapiro, whose widely accepted nickname is "EDP," an acronym for Emotionally Disturbed Person. This nickname has allegedly been first applied to him by his closest friend and buff Booky Kaluszyner who allegedly has close ties to BSSP Boro Park Shomrim. Shapiro owns a used car dealership in NJ, which sources tell us is legally restricted to operating in NJ. Shapiro is also colleagues with disgraced Shomrim member Avigdor Brief Unit-63 in East Midwood Volunteer Ambulance. Shaprio has allegedly been suspended from EMVA several times, and Avigdor Brief allegedly lobbied to have him reinstated.

It was time for Brief to collect on the favor. Brief then allegedly requested of Shaprio to borrow a NJ dealer plate for the Shomrim truck. This is allegedly illegal, as used car dealership plates cannot be used on any active emergency vehicles, especially in New York where the plates are allegedly entirely unauthorized.

Booky Kaluszyner, who boasts close ties with Shomrim and works for NYC Community EMS - chief rivals with East Midwood Volunteer Ambulance - also allegedly pressured Shaprio into giving these plates.

East Midwood Volunteer Ambulance is already allegedly under investigation for numerous discrepancies and alleged violations. Disgraced Shomrim member Avigdor Brief is the obvious connection between scandal-ridden EMVA and scandal-ridden Boro Park Shomrim.

WHY DOES THE NYPD'S 66TH PRECINCT ALLOW THIS RAMPANT LAW BREAKING BY SHOMRIM?
